So after swiftly leaving Valparaiso we made our way to Santiago as early as possible in the hope that we could change our flights to the next day, unfortunately we weren’t allowed and had to stay in Santiago for 2 nights and catch the plane to Sydney on the Sunday evening. The day we arrived it was raining pretty much non-stop so again there wasn’t really much to do! The hostel was actually one of the best ones we had stayed in so was easy to chill out there and count down the hours. That evening we decided to check out a local fish restaurant just round the corner from the hostel and it was absolutely unbelievable think walking into a submarine/navy command centre/tank and you’ll start to get sort of an idea. The tables were on imitation bombs there were flashing lights all around us the staff were in full navy uniform etc etc etc it was awesome. The food wasn’t half bad either but you certainly paid for it!!
Next day it decided to stop raining but remain grey and gloomy so we headed out to explore Santiago a little and the city itself is actually really nice I don’t think we gave it any sort of justice with our brief city tour but we had one eye on Sydney! In the evening we went to another football game with some guys from our hostel turns out it was a cup final and being held at the National Stadium the game itself was brilliant ended up being 4-2 so 6 pounds well spent! After that we went back to the hostel and gatecrashed a quiz night which was 1hr into proceedings already this did bnothing to quash Chloes competitive streak and she put her game face on gave her “take this seriously” speech and was dead set on us winning!! Chloe went to bed after the quiz (not because we lost if that’s what you’re thinking!) and I decided to stay up and have a few more drinks with the guys we went to the game with, pretty good day overall.
Final day we wake up, we cook, we eat and we literally twiddle our thumbs eagerly anticipating our departure. Turns out it was a sunny day and they had just had fresh snow in the ski resorts but we could care less we were 100% ready to leave!!
