ok so beat the crowds to illha grande and took a fishing boat to the island and managed to get a lovely hostel overlooking the harbour- very lively place, decent 4 bedroom but mixed dorm and it was all boys making stealth toliet missions impossible!

so the island is lovely however the nice beaches are either a hike or boat journey away (the one above is suppose to be amazing) we didnt make it as we both had upset stomachs and the though of doing a trek uphill in the heat 3 hours each way and no toilet facilities was more than i could bear! instead we had a nice day around the hostel overlooking the sea and reading etc. in the evening we had a bbq in the hostel and met a really interesting america guy who had been laid off in the crunch and was an anaylst on the stock market- very interesting to talk too! his intelligence rub off as well as i was chatting to him about politics and the education system!

as we did nothing here i want to tell you a few things i have learnt/changed!!!

- we only eat a small breakfast (bread roll and ham ) and never have lunch and only a small dinner, although last night not even that!

- i have noticed an abundance of skinny people in brazil- i have been watching them closely, and in some extreme cases taking photos, so that whens its my turn i will be ready!

- i wash everyday which is a first, and i must say a new and exciting thing! also i now have an afro that wont go- one girl described me as the one with big curly hair! nice!

- meeting people is easy- although i have the tendancy to judge straightaway (nothing has changed) rory has told me to stop listening to my intituition etc as its completly wrong! although i have meet some really annoying people and am finding it hard to cope with them (it helps to imagine pushing them off the boat, things like that)

- my jokes arent translating! apprently people dont understand that when i call them a tosser its actually affectionate!

anyway i will get rory to write one of these blogs so he can tell you lot his thoughts. he is currently watching football!
