Our afternoon yesterday started with lunch at the school again and pick-up game of basketball. We then all piled into our buses and went off to Old San Juan. Our first stop was the PR seat of government where we got a short tour. Then it was off to Castillo Felipe del Morro. It was one of the main fortifications that protected San Juan and really old. Wow! What a day! It took a while to get there and a while to get back, but it was memorable. We took a trip on the bus to get to the port of Fajardo. We then waited for about an hour for the ferry to the island of Vieques. Vieques is a small island (6 miles wide, 20 miles long) off the east coast of PR. Yesterday was another early start (but not as early as Wednesday). We all got up at 6:30 and went down to breakfast. The kids went off to school and I had 3 hours to myself. I went for run along the coast to the fort that protected San Juan called El Morro. My favorite part of the run was stopping and walking through the beautiful Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis cemetery. I created a photo album of some of my photos. After a flight to Miami, a frantic run to the gate, and another flight, we made it to San Juan about 2:30 this afternoon. We were met by a Puerto Rican band at airport. The hotel we are staying at is very nice and right on the ocean. We ate a traditional PR dinner and then the kids went off and swam in the pool and the ocean. We have 5 boys and 3 men sleeping in two rooms, so tonight should be interesting.
