We arrived in Sydney to the heat, and was it hot - 41 degrees, a little too hot!, and made our way to our hostel... the Funk House- backpacker heaven after the tent (we miss our tent!)
We had a good walk around Sydney stopping at the art gallery to see a very good collection of art then off to the Botanical gardens and bizarrely hundreds of huge bats in the trees and flying around. Soon the Opera House came into view, it seemed a lot cleaner than I remember from last time and I did not realise that the roof is a mosaic of tiles, an amazing and iconic building and as for the view across the water and those crazy people walking over the bridge... what were they thinking!? It's high!!! By the evening it was raining, we seem to be taking it around with us at the moment, however this was welcome rain as it reduced the temperature by 10 degrees in as many minutes- a relief!
On our second day we started off by seeing a Monet exhibition and ended with a show in the Opera House... get us, we are cultured, not too cultured though as we got pizza from a street stall on the way home! Another amazing day in our whistle stop tour of Sydney. (If you are ever tempted to go and see La Grand Cirque... don't, it's nothing like Cirque de Soleil!)
