Ok so we left you in not so sunny vang vieng… the morning after the tubing… well it was an early start too not so bright and perky backpackers… set off from their hostel… a hostel they had spent two nights in and got all of there clothes washed… was also the hostel they decided to just leave the key and walk out… they had got away with it.. Not paying!! Haha… the two little crooks hiked up the road to the bus stop… needless to say if the bus wasn't on Laos time… therefore on time we would have gotten away with it!!
Instead we stood waiting for the bus after gathering a whole bag of goodies, sandwiches crisps everything a hangover may need apart from lucazade!! Cravings galore!!... and on a little mopped turned up the lady an man… saying you must pay… so jack and Stacey put on a quite believable little performance of no jack paid no you paid no you paid… oh m gosh were so sorry… Haha!! We may have had to pay but some how we still managed to bargain the price down yet again… still got a great deal even if it wasn't free Haha!! On the bus we boarded… soon to find that there was easily 20 people more than should be on this stupid bus… it was hot… the air con was non existent... jack was sat not even in an actual chair… and the roads were just bump after bump pot hole after pot hole.. What a delightful 5 hours it was!! Haha!!
Needless to say Laos roads have topped all other countries with there distinct well lack of roads… and horrific driving... and long long journeys and windiness… but we made it safe and sound to Vientiane… and finally there was sun!!
Laos had not provided us with any so far yet today was the day, so we hiked on the bags and wondered around the city for a little bit… had some food… managed to get some free internet time… of which Stacey did not find the funniest… She logged on to face book to discover the horrific news that her beloved old cat of 22 years had died… a hangover… hotness… a long day and still a flight to go… this news was not ideal!!
We managed to crash in a coffee shop only to witness a TV advert of some sort being filmed… probably the funniest thing I have ever witnessed… all was good with milkshakes and the sun and some funny Laos's people… until……
THE DREADED DOG!!!
After a week in the elephant park where you could play with all of the little dogs, safe in the knowledge that they had all had rabies jabs, jack was all thrown out and confused!!
As the cute little thing came over, he enjoyed a little stroke and a tickle…then the dog licked him…on his hand…where he had a few cuts and dried skin…..OH s*** IT!! …. Jack didn't want to over dramatize the situation but he then ran to the toilet, thoroughly washed his hands and put savlon on (cos savlon is good for everything, even rabies J)!
This required some reading up on rabies after which the initial terror began to fade… it was too late to see a doctor as we had a flight to catch!! (before we worry you all… we popped to a hospital in Hanoi which looked some what like a war zone… the doctor assured us that he would be fine as it wasn't fully broken skin and it was only a little saliva and it is very uncommon…to this present day jack is still with us!!)
We hopped onto a quick flight, an enjoyable one hour… in comparison to the 32 hour bus journey across to Vietnam… a quick flight over to Vietnam and we had arrived, after parting ways with a lot of dollar… (Vietnam is a b**** of a country when it comes to visas!) we were heading in a very crampt mini bus to the city centre!!
Pre planning... its alright we have booked somewhere to stay we thought… clever from us... well actually this all back fired... as we arrived in the centre of the city it was pitch black about 11.30/... and we definitely did not have directions to the hotel!! Ha!! Never fear the Vietnamese people are lovely and soon enough we found there hotel no dramas… until they didn't have our reservation!! Are you kidding us… the one time we prepare!!..... Luckily they had a sister hotel two minutes up the road and we managed to stay there for the night…
To be continued!!...
Peace out X
