Oi mates! So I spend some 6 daya in Sydney. I must say, what a culture shock! Almost no motorbikes, kebab (real karvaranne kebua!) shops in every corner, cars stopping for people at cross-walks. Thats just the tip of the iceberg! All the stuff I mentioned above comea with a price... everything is ridiculously expensive here! Some stuff even expensive for finnish standards, a bottle of water from vending machine $3! My dorm in Sydney was $34 a night and it was pretty standard rate, most days on my trip so far I've managed to stay below the 20€ but in Australia it is nearly impossible if you dont know someone who can house you. Maybe I have been ranting enough about the money, I knew it would be expensive anyways. I finally went to see the Hobbit... okish movie but it was really cool to go see it in the worlds biggest screen, Sydneys IMAX! Getting around the city is quite easy, if you feel like walking, or missed the last train back to the guest house like I did, you can get back in 30mins from the central area. Atleast this is true if you stay in Kings Cross or closer. Oh right, Kings Cross. A funny place, I saw more strip bars on the first walk through than anywhere else on my journey put together. However I never went to the "red lantern" districts in Asia. This makes the place sound bad but it is actually quite nice neighbourhood, everything you might need is close and it is filled with backpackers so you wont be alone much. Culture shock + travel related sleep deprivation hit me hard in Sydney so I spenda lot of time sleeping and watching movies, which was really nice for a change. As I've mentioned in previous blog updates, I ocasionally enjoy doing nothing! I'm going back there after Byron Bay so I can go and see all the tourist must-see-or-you-didn't-see-anything places when I'm back. I did see the opera house abd the bridge already but I guess there must be something else, like the zoo. I'm now in Byron Bay waiting the checkout time so I can get into my dorm bed. Got some 13 hours bus ride behind me with little sleep so I apologise for the typos and the wall of text, one missclick kinda blew stuff up.
Cheers!
