Okay so I want to take a moment and talk about trash is Egypt. It is not a pretty topic and in Cairo it is down right heartbreaking. Egypt has no real means of collecting trash. If the Egyptians are done with something they drop it out of their hands and never think about it again. In Cairo the canals and even the Nile are so full of trash it forms island sometimes with living and or dead animals on it. It is so bad it took our group four days to ask about it because we were trying to ignore it as much as possible. In Lower Egypt I really didn't find trash cans and as we know vendors are everywhere so I started to joke that I was going to start to pay one dollar for a picked up bag of trash. So when we were at the Valley of the Kings and saw a legitimate garbage man I tipped him 2 U.S. dollars. I am pretty sure he thought I wanted him to throw the money out and that I was insane. The next garbage man I saw, featured above, in Abu Simbel I gave the 1 U.S. Dollar I had on me and made his day. Egypt wants to bring more tourists back to the country then they need to work on the trash problem. I am not sure I want to put my foot in the Nile because on the pollution and that makes me very sad.
