After finding a room, showering, and having some breakfast we felt refreshed from our night bus. It was a beautiful day so we walked up the nearby hill, Cerro San Bernardo (bout 1000 steps!) for an awesome view over the city.
After our walk we headed back to the bus station to book tickets to San Pedro (chile), only to find out that the next avaliable bus was 5 days away. So the next day we decided to head out to San Lorenzo (nearly town) for a couple of days.
Expected there to be at least some cheap accommodation in San Lorenzo, but turns out it was a posh town where rich people holiday and live. Anyway, cause it wasn't a busy time of the year we managed to score a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment for US$33 per night (down from US$70 a night!).
So ended up having a nice couple of days in San Lorenzo. Went for a walk up the gorge, think we took a wrong path though and ended up at some local farmer who wasn't too happy to see us. Ate lots of good food. Dined at one of the local restuarants one night, then the next night we brought some steak and churizo from the butchery and some veggies for a salad, and that night we built a fire and cooked the steak & churizo, which was amazing.
Then it was back to Salta for a couple of nights before we caught the 6:30am bus to chile.
