Had a nice drive across to Banff, took bout 10 hours. Stayed in the HI Hostel for our first 2 nights, which had a basement pub that had Karoke on one of the nights, so after a few rums, Mark & I got up and sung 'under the bridge'. Two nights was long enough to be sleeping in bunks and sharing a room, so we moved into a cabin for bout the same price while we looked for jobs & accommodation.
We were really lucky and managed to find a place to live & both get jobs in our first week. Mark got a job working for the Grizzle House as a cook, which will help keep our food bill down. And I got a job working as a Tour Rep, with the best perk being I get to try all the tours for free. So far I have been dogsledding, snowmobiling, seen a ice hockey match, ice walking, and a couple of sight seeing tours.
The place we're staying is located really close to town and is really cheap for Banff. We share the place with another couple (Dallas - oz & Silvia - usa), who we get on well with and a couple of guys who we never seem to see.
Banff is bout 30 min drive from Sunshine (ski hill), so to save money on the bus we just hitch up the hill to go snowboarding, which is working out well. Had some friggin cold temperatures so far, with the record being -42 degrees, way too cold. Mark even got a bit of frost bite on his nose.
