I liked Florence the best of the 3 cities we visited, and we spent the most time there. It was very similar to Sevilla, you could walk everywhere, small streets with little shops, and at the center was their version of the Catedral, the Duomo. Its sooooo pretty the outside is white with pastely colors and it has a HUGE dome. When it was originally built they left the dome undone because they didn't have the technology at the time to make a dome that size, but once the tech came along they made it and now it stands...pretty cool! We walked to the top of the bell tower and had a great view of the city and the dome. It was cool to look down on all the houses, they have the classic Tuscan style roofs, the red tile like things. Before shira left the US she booked us times at the two main museums which was so nice because both had huge long lines and we got to just go right in. First we went to the academia. Its really small and everyone basically goes just to see tMichaelangelo's David and its so worth it! It is so big and awe inspiring. Along the walls in the room leading up to it are other unfinished works by Michaelangelo. I really liked those because it let you see what he started from, which was just a huge slab of marble, and he carved it into amazing figures. It really is so cool! That afternoon we went to the Ufizzi which is basically all renessance art, and as bad as this sounds I was soooo sick of it I didn't even get anything out of it. Every picture is like the same to me. BUT, there was a special Leonardo Di Vinci exhibit going on and that was so cool! It had a bunch of his notebooks and different theories he developed as well as inventions he made plans for that they reproduced, and a ton of other stuff it really was just so interesting. He was such a scientist, that is why I liked it so much (hehe)! One day we went to the outlets about 30 minutes outside Florence. They had stores like Gucci, Fendi, Burberry, etc. I thought they sucked (sorry shir). But it was an experience. The bus was us and a bunch of Chinese people, the model tourist. One of the best things about Florence was the food! Soooo good, but unfortunately not kosher for Passover. Since I have a bunch of friends there we went to dinner with some of them each night and they knew the good places to go and the food was amazing!
