Hello again, well, we have reached another Italian city and another internet cafe!!! We were rather sad to leave Verona but on Thursday morning, Lake Garda was calling us to visit so we packed our lives into our backpacks and headed North with Marge who decided to take us on an adventure and make us reverse back down the autostrada!!! Having been before, Karen knew the area like the back of her hand and headed straight for the ice cream shop (Kinder Ice Cream - yum!!) We sat looking at the peaceful lake and watched the oldies shuffling past! Marge had an important engagement in the afternoon which meant we had to be back in Florence. We found a hotel on the other side of town to where we were before and we lucky enough to have our own private roof terrace complete with astro turf overlooking the skyline of Florence. We decided to make the most of the mini bar and enjoyed a couple of bottles of Prosecco whilst the sun set over the city! The old stallion at the hotel pointed us in the direction of a local restaurant a short walk away and we enjoyed some lovely seafood spaghetti! We think we must have been mistaken for some famous Italian superstars as all 6 chefs came out individually to look at us and some random male diners were taking photos on their camera phones!! Needless to say we felt we should get the hell out of there!! Pronto Pronto!! An early start and a couple of train journeys and we had completed our pilgramige to the eternal city! We wandered around late yesterday afternoon and into the evening and saw some of the many sights! We of course took full advantage of the choice of restaurants to endulge in some more Italian feasting! This time overlooking the colloseum! We have completed a very touristy bus trip today and Rachel managed to burn one shoulder (Karen was ok as she was wearing her factor 50 aka emulsion sun cream hence no red shoulders!!) We visited the Vatican and have never seen so many Nuns and tourists before! The pic we've put on here is of the Trevi fountain which we saw last night and are about to see in daylight as it's one of our (many) favourite sights! Ciao for now, R&K xx
