We went on an Ocean Spirit boat to the Oyster and Upolu reefs. When we got out to the reef we could see lots of jellyfish in the water. This made us a little bit nervous to get in, but we hired stinger suits and were assured by the crew that it was fine. Neither of us had been snorkelling before and it took us a bit of time to get used to the flippers and the mask. After a bit of a snorkel we had a smorgasbord lunch, which was nicer than we had expected.
After lunch Rachel had a go at SCUBA diving. Again it took a moment to get used to the breathing, but once she was under and swimming around it was easy. It was amazing how close we got to the coral and how many different fish there were. She even saw a Wrasse fish cleaning another fish and a giant clam. She really enjoyed the dive, it was an amazing experience.
On the second reef we both went snorkelling again. We were more confident this time so were able to enjoy it more. Again we saw loads of fish and coral, and it was really cool to know the names of the fish we were seeing (thanks to reef teach). We both had an amazing time at the reef and can't wait to go snorkelling again.
