It wasn't a good start to the day when we went to the kitchen to find our cool bag had been stolen from the fridge along with about $20 worth of food. We set off without any breakfast and the day didn't really get much better as we ended up spending practically all day on the road. Our plan was to head to Gisburn but when we arrived there, the town was a bit of a dump and we decided we didn't want to spend the night. We stopped off at the supermarket to buy some more food and set off again heading back in the direction we had come from this morning.
We were driving miles out of the way into the middle of nowhere up to a national park, so to try and make it worth our while,we were going to try and have a free night at a DOC campsite but of course this not being of day it didn't work out. It was very late in the day, we were starving hungry, in the middle of nowhere and it was now raining, so we pulled into a campsite. We decided to make some tea before putting up the tent, in the hope that the rain would have stopped once we'd eaten. We'd obviously forgotten luck wasn't on our side and it continued to rain. So to top of a particularly crappy day we didn't put up the tent and spent an uncomfortable night in the car.
