The grand Grand Canyon!
Feeling suitably relaxed we leave Vegas and head east into Arizona to take in the panorama’s of the Grand Canyon. After four hours driving we arrive at the south rim of the Canyon.
It’s only a short walk to the rim and when we get there the views induce a ‘wow’ followed by silence. We are so wowed it takes some time before we remember our camera’s hanging around our necks and then set to drinking in the views across, up and down the vast canyon and photographing it to try and do justice to what our naked eyes are seeing.
The canyon seems to be one of those unsolvable mysteries, which is very cool. Experts cannot agree on how it formed, particularly with the Colorado River winding through its base. The rocks at the riverbed are some of the oldest exposed rocks on earth. Very cool indeed. The Grand Canyon is easily worth the detour drive from Vegas.
