After a very rainy walk to the train station, we caught the 11.45pm express Moscow to Beijing, just 4,000 miles and 6 days!
Joined the train and were shown to our tiny cabin. There were 3 types of carriages on the train, hard sleepers, soft sleepers and first class. We had inadvertently booked hard sleepers and hard those beds were. In the stark lighting of the night with our clothes drenched after our soaking on the journey it seemed that I would never last 6 days on this train!
Our cabin mate, Bolor a Mongolian girl joined us shortly before departure. A few sheets and blankets were chucked at us (quite literally! The train attendants were definitely not people people!) and off we chugged into the dark rainy Moscow night.
