Doors of Basilica of San Domenico
This is a very interesting image, because of the presence of the grapes below the face of Christ. The grapes were used in very early Christianity as a sign of the blood of Christ, but also because the Roman soldiers would associate that with Bacchus-being Pagans. 1300 years later, the grapes are still a potent image, and thus the metalworkers chose to include this design above the head of the worshiper entering the basilica
