What follows is a visual record, accompanied by a short narrative on each occasion, of the simple lunch experience of a random group of people, as it occurred on Saturday 14 May 2011. This is not the story of a momentous event, but a quiet examination of the outwardly "mundane" activity of what people might chose to do at lunch time, the food, the setting and so on, and, on that particular day. The exact purpose of the exercise is actually for the viewer to determine, as they think about their reaction to their own, and others', experience. However, when considering the subject, it might be worth reflecting on the words of the philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, who noted "Any earnest examination of the mundane, will inevitably reveal that there is absolutely no such thing as the mundane".

SG Just today (Wed 8 June), I was having a conversation with one of the participants of this project (Paul). We discussed the variety of ways in which this project could be viewed; dare I say, we agreed it could range from the sublime to the ridiculous, and all points in between. One of Paul's angles was that he looked at the dishes with a certain gastronomic delight, so much so that when he spied the Australian submission, it has caused severe salivation at the prospect of that beautiful roast lamb.
