Check-in at IAH was mostly uneventful, but of course we got the "hook-up" in the check-in line, which only meant that despite the coordinator's best intentions we ended up in the slowest line...and then of course our bags were overweight because of our last minute decision to buy new luggage 3 hours before we left! Overall Air China gets a solid B for their maiden voyage, check-in was slow, takeoff was 30 minutes delayed, and they didn't control the boarding lines very well. The brand new 777-300ER was super nice and quite spacious. They didn't quite grasp the concept that this was an overnight flight...turn the light off and quit coming by every 30 mins and waking me up to ask if I want another hot, Chinese beer! Maclaren wasn't having anything to do with sleeping on the plane, so it was a long 13.5 hour flight but that free, hot Chinese beer tasted great at 4am! Air China gave everyone a belt buckle as a present for being on their inagural flight, so we got 3...thinking of wearing it to work when I get back!
After 3 lines and attempts to get through immigration, we finally got it right and were let through, they could use some better signage.
