Every time we try to write on this we get a problem! This time I had a quick update on and the power went down (&wifi with it)! Anyway before something else happens ..... We are in Cusco - were affected with bad headaches and light heads yesterday but resting, heaps of water and a tablet seem to have under control. Off on a city tour this afternoon - must be quite an extensive one as 5 hours. We will update later. Another effect of altitude sickness is finding everything very funny and fits of giggles. Going for breakfast now then exploring.
Well we had a really good tour with a very knowledgeable guide yesterday afternoon. Just a small part of 10 so very pleasant. We took in cathedral, and a fair number of Inca archeological sites - most of them uncovered by earthquake s since the Spanish arrived ( the earthquake s that is)he told us that the Spanish built over sites with their churches mostly -. It was interesting to see how the Inca's managed to retain some of their identity. As they were the workforce for the Spanish they were able to put Peruvian mountain flowers, animals etc in the carvings and silver and gold work.
As a last stop we ended up in a little village that makes the genuine artwork and us linked with Condor travel. They showed us how to tell the different wools in products and how they dyed them with naturel minerals etc. lots of products for sale of course. Ginny invested but will leave her to tell you about that another time.
Rest day today so we will explore the old town, main plaza go to a Peruvian song and dance show and pack our small bags ready for the next leg of the trip.
