I managed to get in this country easy enough but getting out proved to be quite a problem!
There's not relly much to say about this place really. It's just another city and I was pretty bored of cities by the time I got here. I did the usual tourist things like see the Raffles Hotel and walk up Orchard Road. I also went to Sentosa Island which is a big tourist magnet with lots of attractions. The only one that I went to was the Carlsberg Sky Tower which gives you a panaramic view of the city, wasn't too bad. I think the main reason why I wasn't impressed with Singapore was because I had a lot of trouble getting out of the place.
I departed a day later than I was supposed to as STA Travel made a c*** up with my flight here. I was told before I left that all my tickets were e-tickets and there for all I
needed to do was roack up at the airport and hand over my passport at check
in. I thought this was a bit strange as I new for a fact that Air New
Zealand did not issue e-tickets for their flights although Qantas do. So
when I arrived at Singapore airport and tried to check in they asked me to
present them with a papaer ticket!!! After telling them that I was told
that it was an e-ticket and not a paper ticket they told me I couldn't fly
without a paper ticket. That left me with 2 hours to some how get hold of a
paper ticket for my flight. Guess what? As it was a Sunday STA Travel in
london did'nt open until 12 and my flight departed at 12 GMT. I got on the
old dog and bone and phoned STA customer service but they couldn't issue a
ticket until they found out where my paper ticket was. So I missed my
flight and phoned the b******s as soon as they opened. After searching
their office they found the papaer tickets that I was supposed to be given
before I left!!!!!!!! After being put on hold for ten minutes (this gave me
a chance to calm down. As you can imagine I was kinda pissed!!) they came
back to me and told me that they had had booked me onto the next flight to
Sydney and this one WAS an e-ticket. As the flight didn't leave until 0900
the next day (the one I missed left at 1955 Singapore time) they put me up
in a nice hotel and they paid for the cab, my food and the phone card i
used.
That wasn't the end of my dramas in Singapore. When i got to the airport I
managed to check in with no problems but then I had to get through passport
control. When i got to the desk the dumb b**** tried to scan my passport
but it wasn't working and told me that there was something wrong with my
passport and there was nothing wrong with here machine. She was talking out
of her asre. I had been through 10 other countries before i got to
Singapore, 2 of which were Russia and China, and had not had a single
problem crossing their boarders. After half an hour of them arsing about
they asked me for my driving license and let me go through. Complete
retards!!!!!!!
