Am at the Avignon TGV Station to pick up Carol returning from Paris. The photo is of the car we technically bought and will sell when we leave. That is apparently the way you hire a car here. Have found this great Smoothie Bar in St Remy. Great for a break in the ride. I have a #4 which is a combination of Banana, orange, pear and something else I cannot translate. 49K so far. Want to do 60K for the day. May have to go up Le Baux again. The ride today has been largely on secondary roads do that you can see the real Provence. A lot of vineyards, olive farms and egg producers. Houses that have been in place for centuries. Beautiful little villages.

Up at 6am. Seems to be the natural waking time. Drove over to St Etienne (4K away) to a Boulangerie (bakery) recommended by Josette. Saw a couple of possible restaurants. I suspect easier to park than St. Remy. Cut loose and bought 4 croissants - ate 3. As lovely as they are there is no substance to them. Also bought the mandatory baguette for lunch. It is lovely sitting out on the patio having breakfast. Peaceful setting and very quiet. Can just hear cars...
