Mont St. Michel: Pete woke up at 6 am to take some sunrise pictures of the Abbey from the causeway while I slept soundly in our hotel until the alarm woke me up at 8 am. We got ready and packed up our stuff to get out of Mont St. Michel before the tourists buses started arriving. Grabbed some croissants and sandwiches for breakfast/lunch and drove off. Since we were early, we decided to make an impromptu stop at Rouen (roo-ohn) . Made it there by noon - man, this place is hard to find - and started our quick 1 hour Rick Steve's guided tour.
Unfortunately, or rather, fortunately for us, most sites of interest on this walk were closed on Tuesdays. We saw the Joan of Arc church (closed), the Big clock (Gros Horloge), the Palace of Justice, Notre Dame Cathedral, the blacked due to pollution St. Maclou church, and the half timbered buildings. We missed the plague cemetery b/c we couldn't find it (disappointing). Then, b/c we were already over our 1 hour allotment for this town, we speed-walked back to parking and headed off to Giverny.
