We woke at 3am to catch our early morning bus to Cambodia, thanks Kieran! To be fair it was a good call as we were at the border by 8. After a fairly stressful and rushed trip through immigration we jumped in a taxi and started our 2hour trip to Siem Reap. A single road took us the whole way there, I swear it was nearly as long as Warbreak Avenue. The first thing you notice about Cambodia is how green it is. Rice fields and trees stretch for miles until they meet the mountains and join the sky. Every now and again we would pass a small village complete with huts built on stilts that made me feel like I was in my very own Geography textbook. After 2hours of buffalo dodging and dragonfly squating we arrived at our hostel.
We chilled for a bit and recovered then hit Siem Reap to see what it had to offer. Not much. So we decided to take a tuk-tuk to Angkor to see the temples. We visted Angkor Wat, the main temple with the three towers and words cant describe how amazing it is. From walking around the gardens to exploring deep inside the ruins, everything was beautiful and peaceful. After a couple of hours the sun had set, the heavens had opened and it was time for us to leave. We got something to eat, a few 50cent beers on Pub Street and went to bed.
The next day we rose early and returned to Angkor. We visted the rest of the temples, including the one used during filming of the first Tomb Raider movie. I can now say that I have touched the holy ground that Angelina Jolie has walked on. We revisted Angkor Wat before having something to eat and drink and going to bed.
