So we have done Sunday the 15th of January twice since we went over the international date line. We arrived in Maui about 12 noon and went to our fabulous hotel. On our way we seen whales off the coast! This area is known for whales coming here to have their babies. It was amazing to see them whilst driving to our hotel. When we arrived we were given some shell lai and because we are on our honeymoon we were given fresh flower lai to put over each other. They were very beautiful. As our room wasn
't ready we took our honeymoon voucher for free sparkling wine and an appetizer, and went to the bar. We had a lovely bottle of bubbles and some chicken quesadillas - yummy! We enjoyed this whilst the sun was shining and with an ocean view - prefect! We were soon in our room and it was lovely with a view of the ocean and the mountains.
We changed into our swim suits and went for a dip to cool down. The pool is huge and you swim through several waterfalls. There is even a grotto with a bar and a water slide (which was really scary!!) We then spent sometime lounging by the pool and at happy hour we had some cocktails - perfect!
We left the hotel for dinner and went to Outback. We were home by about 9pm and fell asleep so quickly! I think after not having much sleep the night before we needed a good night
's sleep!
The following day (Monday) Paul booked into a dive at 8am so we got up early and had our buffet breakfast. When Paul went diving I went to watch the feeding of the penguins (yes penguins!!!) and I got to feed the Koi carp. They were a hungry lot but it was fun to feed them. I met lots of interesting people who also liked wildlife and we had some good conversations.
When Paul returned he showed me the pictures he had taken whilst diving. He seen a sleeping turtle, a puffa fish and a huge yellow worm in a conche. He also heard the calls of the whales whilst underwater - how cool is that!!
We spent some time in the pool and lounging beside it - oh it
's a hard life! That evening we went to a Luau called drums of the pacific. It was a show displaying all the music and dancing of Polynesia. There was also a buffet and open bar. There was a hula lesson so we now know some of the basics of hula! Paul was quite mesmerised by the women's hips and I was enjoying all the male flesh on show - there was something for everyone!
After the show we went for a walk around the resort - it really is huge!
On the Tuesday we had a lie in and a leisurely breakfast. We had quite a relaxing day today - just more sunbathing and a little retail therapy. The hotel has many shops including a Macy
's! I am starting to become quite brown - Paul of course is just becoming darker!
Later in the afternoon we walked down to Lahaina and had a walk about there. We went to the Hard Rock Café for dinner and got the bus back. We got talking to an older couple from Alabama who have a farm. They were lovely and told us all about their cattle and peanuts which they grow - quite a combination!
Tomorrow we are doing our Maui tour so we are looking forward to that!
