Hi All
Following Auckalnd we flew to Christchurch were we were due to pick up our EZY Campervan the following day. That evening we relaxed in Christchurch, grabbed an Indian (can't get enough of the stuff since India) then got an early night in our hostel.
The following morning we were up early for our transfer to the EZY Rentals airport depot. From there we commenced our journey across the beauty that is known as New Zealand. Prior to Queenstown we have visited the following places and carried out various activites:
Hamner Springs - We both relaxed and enjoyed the thermal and sulphur hot springs
Kaikoura - Famous for whale, seal and dolphin watching we only managed to visit the local winery. Typical ha! Fantastic experience! Ali was in her element as you can imagine. Sampling eight different wines from Rose, White and Red wines.
Greymouth - Sleepy little town where there was little to do but relax. So we did just that. Our camp site was situated directly on the beach, therefore we took a stroll along the pebbled beach just watching the world go by. Sometimes these moments are those that you cherrish most. Having no worries or any concept of stress.
Franz Josef - This is where the adventure begins!. Nothing was planned, however on walking into the town on our arrival we were pursuaded to perform an ice climb. You've all seen cliffhanger! Well we had a right good bash climbing the new indoor ice walls using the ice picks to climb our way up. This was a big test for our Ali and she come through it so well. She even managed to support the big fella himself as I was able to absial down with Al's help.
Following day we continued our journey onto Wanaka and managed to stop of at the famous Fox Glacier, which was superb.
Wanaka - Following a 5 hr drive from Franz Josef. We went on a Quad Biking trip through the outback. We had a right laugh as we moved through the streams and hills. Well until Al nearly broke her neck by driving over a mole hole ha!
Queenstown - Before I go any further, Queenstown and the scenery that surrounds it, all of New Zealand really is absolutely spectacular. Wev'e really found a home here in Queenstown. There's just something about this place that we've completely fallen in love with and will be so sad to leave it tomorrow. Since being here it's been all go. Al and me went on the Shotover Jet expereince (jet boat) yesterday morning, which was cool. We travelled along the rapid river, performing 360 degree turns at 40kph. Cracking!
Following that, Paul performed a 12,000 ft skydive. Something I will never forget and cant wait to reinact soon. Pure ecstacy!!!
Today we went to Milford Sound. A unigue World Heritage area. Spectacular natural scenery. Well worth the 12 hr round trip. Tomorrow, Paul hopes to do a bungy jump of a bridge overlooking the Shotover river gorge. Will fill you in if I survive that ha!
Thanks for all your emails. Please keep them coming.
Ali and Paul x
