Koh Phangan, ok i thing i have arrived at my favourite place so far... the weather is not great seems to be a storm coming but where we are staying in Haad Salad is defiantly beautiful, we spend the next 2 days just eating and drinking they have a bar called reggae bar which had a live band and they also let anyone get up and sing, play guitar etc with them, i just really like it here plus our hotel is lush and very expensive but hey its the holidays so why not. We have a New Years Eve Banquet up the beach in a new hotel, they have BBQ and fireworks on the beach (there is always fireworks i have noticed the thais love to celebrate just about anything) there is seating all along the beach but we can't find a table and just eat outside, glad we did because the fireworks go awol and head to the crowd some young girl had been hit in the head with one aarrggh!!! safety is not there forte!!
We then get a taxi to had rin home of the full moon party, although there is no full moon they still have a count down party for new years, wow how mad was the road leading to the beach is full of people and when you finally make it there its packed, i was told later they believe more than 10 thousand people attended. so lots of buckets and plenty of sound systems to suit all we are dancing our thongs off (flip flops not pants) had a mental time lots of fire shows people jumping skipping ropes on fire and plenty of fancy dress... most men dressed as women and mostly they were australian. i just can't wait till feb when i get back here for the real full moon party! so more fireworks and later we meet nearly everyone i have meet on this trip so far but glenn he seems to be awol to he he he, we had a great night and head home about 4 because we are to old to keep up the pace he he..
we then was supposed to leave to koh Tao but the weather change at last ;-) and donna & shaun wanted to do there padi divers course so we stay another 5 days just move hotels down to ban tai, now we get a chance to top up our tans.... then funniest thing happened i was sleeping on a sun lounger and i felt a massive thud something dropped from the trees between my boobs.. i opened my eyes and this lizard as big as my hand was staring at me, muted i could not move say a thing lol... this american says wow a lizard!! (huh ya think) had a good 5 seconds before i screamed the placed down and had to pull it off me, jumped up and it doug its claws in... so funny i nearly wet my pants!!!! it just seems the lizards here are all out to get me, i have a few other stories but they deserve there own blog!!
we leave Phangan the day before the next full moon and head back to Bangkok Donna & shaun leave in 2 days then i have a trip to the north Chang Mai, loas and final vietnam until the end of jan when sarah arrives, very sad to say goodbye we've had a wicked time but i suppose it s time to go it alone and do some real travelling and stop treating this like a long holiday.
