Bit of an early (unplanned) start with the hotel fire alarm going off at 6am. Only burnt toast, but considering the hotel was full was a bit odd that only 4 of us bothered to evacuate! Place was full of South African and French tourists.
Had a hearty breakfast since Sally can't risk airline food usually. Got to airport with plenty of time for some duty free shoping. Sally tried the new 'smart gate' check in and it was so 'smart' that it realised straight away that she looked nothing like her passport photo....computer said "NO" so she had to go through the old fashioned way.
The flight was a little late leaving but smooth and lunch OK. Computer was still saying NO at Melbourne! Shuttle was quick into Southern Cross Station then a taxi to the ferry terminal.
Left on time and glad we'd got a cabin to oursleves as it was quite small. Had a light, but expensive, dinner then an early night. Pretty smooth crossing with just a lightish swell.

Norma Oakeley It all sounds great and I am very jealous. The daughter of friends lives in Hobart. She seems to like it. John's cousin had a holiday in Tasmania and loved it. Is it your first visit?
