Upon arrival the prisoners were sorted. Those deemed most troublesome were housed on the bottom level in heavy chains. One step up was on the first level in slightly lighter chains. On the top level were the best behaved. The third level housed the dinner hall and library, it also served as a school in the evenings, as they tried to reform the inmates.
