Palace of Knossos -- The Throne Room
This was originally thought by Evans to be called the King's Throne Room, but later theories suggest it might be a place devoted to goddess worship. On the wall are frescoes of griffons, with heads of birds (heaven), bodies of lions (earth) and tails of snakes (underworld). Following pictures show the area to the left, that leads to a pool, or lustral basin, probably for ritual cleansing.
