It's been a while between posts, I'm not sure whether its because internet is so sparse here or because I'm too busy lazing around to write.
So a quick update then. I Arrived in cape town about 6 weeks ago and hired a car and drove a couple of thousand kms up the coast to Durban, just me and my beautiful slim 6'4 girlfriend (unfortunately that would be my surfboard).
My plan was to get some good waves and not get eaten by sharks. I did get a few good waves but i think i improved my drinking more than my surfing. It was a little unnerving constantly seeing rapidly approaching dark shapes come at you though the waves only to see at the last minute that they were just playing dolphins.
I visited my friends rich and Taryn in Durban. They kindly took me in for a week, gave me a comfy bed, and showed me the realities of having a one year old kid. Ouch! what a lot of work. I think ill stick to traveling for a while. Although i did fall in love with little georgia and tried to teach her as many bad aussie habits as i could.
After a quick stopover in Swaziland i headed to the beach in Mozambique, arriving in a little beach town called tofu. A paradise where i fished, ate and swam with 9 meter whale sharks, hammerheads, dolphins, manta rays and humpback whales.
Understandably i got stuck there for a while making friends with the local bunch of pirates who were running the yoga retreat i ended up staying in. They drank and smoked from dawn to dusk, everyone was a misfit hiding an interesting story of why they had left the real world behind and escaped to live in a little beach town in Mozambique
I was thoroughly entertained by the manager who was heard during the end of a morning yoga class having a huge orgasm in the bungalow next door. she went bright red when everyone told her how much they had enjoyed listening to her heavy breathing. although secretly i think all the yoga people were jealous of her workout.
I'm now in Zanzibar in Tanzania and heading out to the peninsula for a full moon party and a bit more lazing around before i tackle Mt Kilimanjaro in a couple of weeks.
ill upload some photos when i actually take some, i keep forgetting to take my camera out with me.
here's to suntanning and eating fresh octopus on the beach.
