I meant the last 2K feet - that was the granite bit.
I did not mean to underestimate the total achievement, which of course makes anything in the UK look frankly pathetic.....you are now my mountaineering heroes! - respeck!
Mum
Poor JAH-he does try!!! I dont know how he could get it so wrong-he has virtually been stopping evey passer-by and telling them of your achievement!!!! (factually correct!!!)
Anyway-lovely photos-the camera is working well-hope your Mum agrees,Lauren!! Please please dont bring any pets home-except of course bearded pigs!!! xxxxxx
The Intrepid Mountain Climbers
i feel fter all that effort i need to correct you JAH, Mt. Kinabalu has a peak of 4101 metres or 13455 feet high. It is the highest mountain in the South East Asia!!!! please do not underestimate our power ahahaha!! X
Jah
JAH has been a bad communicator on the message board however your mountain adventure has flushed him out into print.
There is only one word to describe your amazing feat and that has to be ( to coin a phrase from the bearded one himself ) - awesome!
What other intrepid pair could scale two thousand feet of sheer granite rock face wearing dodgy paka macs, ballaclavas and worn out trainers.
If that had been the Lake District - at considerably less altitiude I might add - the mountain rescue team would have dragged you off kicking and screaming.
So much for all this fancy climbing gear, I say next year we do Everest in shorts!
It was a fantastic adventure spending time with you both in Malaysia and has made us want to do more adventurous travelling ( are there places yet to be discovered with no reptiles or creepy crawlies? ). I am totally jealous of your latest diving trip as I felt that my encounter with a three foot trigger fish with coral eating teeth topped everything - clearly not!
Have a great time back in Thailand and looking forward to seeing you both at Christmas - I really love you guys! xxxxxxx
Mum
Well we are really on count down now-you are going to be sooooo cold when you get back! The roast potatoes are being prepared right now-Lauren-just to make sure there will be sufficient!
Had a wonderful weekend in the Lakes-the autumn colours are amazing-It also proved something to us -----We can walk in the day and party at night----but only just!!! There was a great band on and of course John Travolta-A.K.A JAH-was strutting his stuff!!!I am off to Whitby next weekend with the 'ladies' then we are going to see Claire in a show at the end of the month.Always a busy time of year-and a lovely reunion to look forward to!!!
Cant wait to see some of the diving/snorkelling photos-is that a hint???!!!
Enjoy your last few weeks.Have a safe journey back to Thailand and keep safe!! Love and miss you xxxxxx
Sue
hard to believe that in just over a month you will be setting foot on English soil. did you plan on timing the end of your trip so you would be here for all the ice and snow and dull dark days. or was it the thought that people might forget to buy you a Christmas pressie if you were away on Dec 25th!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to hear all about the trip and Chloe has the usual concerns about your hair and what sort of job you can do with a fuzz on top. see you soon take care and enjoy the last few days
Stelo
yagga yo, i'm moving oop north on saturday so this may be my last chance to use the internet for some time! start the new job monday morning, pretty excited, also will be great to finally get our own place sorted - MTV cribs anyone?! hope the lack of contact from you isn't due to being eaten by crocodiles, i was looking forward to seeing you again!! anyway, take it easy and i'll check you pretty soon - 1 month left, yowzer! peace my people, one.
Mum N Dad V
Well I hope that you have recovered from your altitude sick ness and discumbobulation (its a great word!!) I am ashamed to say that i cant manage to walk up one flight of stairs without falling which I managed in quite spectacular fashion on thursday.....very colourful and extensive bruising now developing daily!! It doesent bode well for Mexico!Have been to Theas ceremony today it was lovely in a beautiful setting and you would have loved all the cakes Lauren! We are so both looking forward to seeing you in december and hope you have a great trip down the river...try and spot some orang utans for me.Much love and stay safe as always mum and dad xxxxx

Mum
Lauren-I always knew you were prone to exaggeration but 1 hour 10mins.......... I dont think so!!!!
The photos are great-the other album 'stolen' from face book is still doomed!!!! they wont show as a slide show- only out of focus-however looking at the choice of snaps that's not a bad thing really!!!!
Hope you are recovering now and at least able to walk as far as ashop selling snickers or magnums-will get a supply in for dec!
loving and missing you still!!!! xxxxx
