Wabasha Street Caves, 215, Wabasha St S, Riverview, St Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota, United States, Minnesota
Took a tour of the wanasha street caves with mr & mrs w and Val. it was a man made cave that had been mined for silicon. Subsequently used by gangsters in the prohibition times and frequented by John Dillinger being the most famous of them all and the baker family.
It was supposed to be haunted.
The tour guide was speaking so fast to get us round in time for the gangster tour it was hard to take in what he was saying. Oliver didn't really have a clue what he was on about !!!!
We then were rushed onto the gangster tour coach so not to be late only to find we had to wait for some other tourists that were running late !!! Our tour guide "Edna 'the kissing bandit' Murray" was amazing. Her jokes were terrible , again oliver struggled to keep up as she talked fast and non stop for 2 hours about gangster life. Her knowledge of history fantastic. We went all around st Paul. Even saw the Capitol building with a new sculpture of Edward j Hoover which was opened by president Clinton yesterday.
After the tour ended we took Val home and we went to eat at cowboy joes. Great place. All half price for happy hour. G&t $2 !!! AND it was good.
Came home and oliver and mr w played poole soon to be joined by Whitney and Jackson. Oliver and the girls had a great te and got on famously. Val took similar home and returned with Vic. We all came up to walkers flat to chit chat, finish jigsaw puzzle and watch Olympics.
Great day, only one more day to go
