I wonder which role he is playing in this picture ;). Dave is the technician of the Luba lab. He used to be a postdoc. Lab technicians and PhD students all had the same education here. If you want to start as a lab technician you can stop after your third year. Before starting your PhD you have to do one extra (fourth) honours year in which you do a thesis.
