Firstly I apologize for the poor spelling in my previous blogs, I´m writing it on word now which makes it significantly easier…
Cuenca
From Montanita took a couple of buses that took the whole day to arrive in Cuenca. We checked into a hostel and went to bed.
The next day we decided to do some cultural activities after the partying in Montanita. We had a look around a couple of museums, the highlight getting to see shrunken heads the Shuar community in the Oriente, where we stayed for the jungle, used to do as ritual. As the hostel had cooking facilities we decided to cook a fry up. We met a guy from Birmingham in the evening who suggested we go to a Copa Lipatadores (SA Champions league) game. We bought the FC Cuenca t-shirt and watched the game in a packed stand. Was quite civilized for a South American game but compared to England it was carnage.
The next day we went on a bus tour around Cuenca and it was quite nice to soak up a bit of culture. We spent a lot of the day reading as we had found a book exchange.
We decided to get the night bus to Peru on the Thursday 19th March to Peru so we went to a museum of modern art which was OK and read by the river before we headed off for the bus to Loja, connecting to Puira, in Peru.
