After a good couple of weeks of sailing we came upon an unknown island and decided to go ashore for some supplies. My men and I found a large cave and decided to do a bit of exploring. Inside the cave we found some sheep and decided to eat some of them as we were very hungry. We heard a loud noise that sounded like grinding rocks from the mouth of the cave. We quickly ran back to the entrance and were met by a hideous one-eyed monster that had just blocked the opening with a large rock. The monster whose name was Polyphemus wasn't happy that we had eaten his sheep, so he kept my men and I hostage, killing two men per day for food. I decided we needed a plan to escape before he ate us all, so one night I gave him some of my strong wine and waited. Polyphemus was asleep within minutes. This is when we decided to act. We took the hot poker from the fireplace and stabbed it into his eye. He woke up screaming "who has done this to me?" and I replied "nobody" so that when the other Cyclopes came to see what was wrong, Polyphemus only replied that nobody was hurting him. We made a quick escape in the morning when the now blind Cyclops let out his sheep.
