Noy's 4th Walkabout
So this is it.....IT'S OVER! We touched down on time at 05.30 yesterday and apologise for not immediately updating the website but the emotion of the day just took over! Not only were Jacqui and Hollie there to greet us but also other daugther, Sally and our Nightmare Grandson, George. We were thrilled to see them all and there was a tearful reunion.
70,350 kilometres since we departed and 3 days short off 20 weeks we're back where we started, with a blank piece of paper and the rest of our lives in front of us. What have we learned? Well, that there are enough other places out there to spend the same time every year till we die and STILL not have seen them all. Also (and Brendon, Richard's dentist will be pleased to hear this), that this fair island isn't such a bad place to have to live!
We would like to thank you ALL for your prayers, your good wishes, your humour and encouragement and just for following us along the way. We're looking forward to catching up with each one of you in the coming weeks. There are over 6,500 photographs which, at three seconds a go would take 5 and a half hours to watch......but you won't have to, we'll have them with us and if you want to see any...YOU'LL have to beg!
We've located the elephant which started its journey back to us on March 10th and arrived with Parcelforce in Bristol on 6th June....unfortunately they wrote demanding £20.00 for VAT and customs clearance, warning that they'd return goods to sender if not claimed inside 21 days!! So now we're on the lookout for a lonely 17kg teak elephant lost on his way back to Thailand! Nevermind, we had no punctures, windscreen breakages, delayed flights or illness and it's all down to YOUR support - thank you so much.
This website will stay live for friends to visit whenever they wish until 4th Mrch 2007.........and then?.....
Jill, just pass me that map of China and let's go through the itinerary again......................!!!!!!
Love to you all, and may God richly bless you as he has done us these past 60 years!!
Richard & Jill xx
PS, yes, there's a card from KL "missing". Richard will update when this weekend's visitors depart and peace descends on Gransden Cottage once more! You will be notified as usual, of course!
