Well - we thought we'd better update this blog once at least, even if it's without photos!
After a magnificent wedding day followed by a frantic few days packing the house up (thanks to respective parents for all their help!), we were off on our adventure!!!
We enjoyed both 'Run Fatboy Run' and the Fantastic Four on the aeroplanes on the way here, and managed to wangle a free bottle of champagne (well - sparkling wine) out of BA for being honeymooners (I'm dropping that out wherever we go now to see what we get!), we finally arrived in South America last Wednesday.
After a lovely welcome to Santiago by being wangled out of a ridiculous amount of money for a cab, we checked into the Hyatt for our last taste of luxury for a while.
It was quite the most swanky hotel I've ever stayed in - and I've stayed in most hotels in the Blackpool / Lytham St Annes area! To give you an idea how posh it was, every night there was 'cocktail time' from 5-8 where you could eat and drink as much gourmet platter as your belly could take (and God knows I almost exploded on day two with all the desserts they kept bringing me), plus every room had its own doorbell!
All lovely stuff but as the hotel was so luxurious it did mean that we didn't get to see as much of Santiago as maybe we could have done.
We did do a funicular railway / cable car tour up San Cristobal to see the Virgin on top of the mountain, as well as visiting a very picturesque chapel on a hill in the middle of Santiago called Santa Lucia (although all the locals were more interested in smooching and getting to third base there than any sightseeing!)
Took our first mammoth bus ride of 11 hrs down to Pucon, where I am writing this from at the moment. Will update you of events there shortly, but in summary we're off hiking up an active volcano tomorrow morning !!
Will update soon - do keep in touch and let us know what's happening back in Blighty!
