Well, we´ve arrived in BA to receive some much-needed sun and civilisation after the chilly weather in Patagonia.
Buenos Aires is a fantastic city. Beautiful architecture, beautiful people (although a lot of that is to do with the amount of plastic surgery they have, but hey) and fantastic nightlife. We even managed an Indian meal there!
First day in BA was spent in Recoleta, home of a very famous cemetery where the rich and famous of Argentina are buried. To be honest, the only one we´d heard of was Eva Peron (Evita), which seemed to be the case for every other tourist judging by the queues, but it was still an impressive place.
Whilst we were there we bumped into a few of the surviving members of our Patagonia tour, and along with them we went to a tango show that evening.
Yes it´s touristy, but it was a really good show...the dancing girls looked amazing from where I was sitting but Kathy was a little disappointed with the tubbiness of the male dancers...it´s a shame!
Once again we enjoyed massive quantities of steak and both of us think we might start mooing soon, but when the quality is this good you can´t really refuse!
All of BA is worth a visit, but we especially enjoyed La Boca (home of Boca Jrs, colourful buildings and a fat Maradona lookalike who charged for a photo with him). Tried to get to a River Plate v Boca Jr exhibition match on Sat 26th, but unfortunately time transpired against as we'd have to head back south from Uruguay to BA. Also, although the game is said to be on in Buenos Aires, it is actually a 500km journey from the city centre so a bit inconvenient to say the least!
So onwards to Uruguay before hitting Iguazu Falls and then strap on our bikinis for Carnival in Rio!
Hasta luego!
