Nosheen's travels
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE! Hope everyones having a romantic one! (Joe you better be all by yourself).
The cross over boat from the South to the North Island was really pretty so we sat on the deck the whole journey (Gill wasn't sick this time!). At the mo im in a town called Taupo. We arrived yesterday and decided to check out the adventure centre as we were passing through. To celebrate valentines day, the girlies and I decided to do a SKYDIVE! (eek!- sorry mum!). It was sooo much fun, but also by far the scariest thing I've ever done in my life!. We went up in a tiny little tin-can excuse for a plane with little/no training?!?, and jumpted 12,000ft DOWN. Nikki and I were surprisingly calm where as Gill was bricking it! (was well funny watching her face on the journey up!). My instructor told me to shape my body like a banana when we jump (great technical training advice) , so when I jumped all Gill heard was me screaming "Banana Banana"....... The free fall (i.e no parachute) lasted about 50 seconds which was well frightening. Hurtling out of a plane head first was something I never thought I'd be brave enough to do!. On opening the parachute (at 5,000ft), the glide down was beautiful as we passed over lake Taupo. I did feel a little light headed but no fainting for me!.
Nikki however had a wee problem...her parachute didnt open!!!. Its ok though, her emergency one eventually did. Her freefall was alot longer though as they spun out of control!. It was very traumatising but she still loved it!. Gill nearly didnt make it out of the plane and her instructor said he'd never had someone kick and scream so much before even leaving the plane! (he pushed her out though!)
All in all, the best thing ive ever done. I bought the dvd and photo gallary of my experience which is so funny to watch. I made an error on my video interview beforehand where i stupidly said i was jumping 12ft- doh!
