PingYao
Getting here was another tedious train trip. We were early (or I was) by 3&1/2 hours. Nev left me to report his wallet missing from the last train ride. He got back to me with 5 minutes to spare before the train departed at 1635. While he was all that time with the police I was sitting on a hard plastic platform seat surrounded by luggage. That was swapped for a hard train seat in another crowded carriage. We were going to have a late lunch but the police fiasco meant we boarded having had no lunch and only some fruit with us. The fruit and a packet of peanuts each had to suffice for lunch and dinner. By 0035 when we finally left the train I was so bum sore I was almost in tears.
PingYao has been a great place to visit. Yesterday morning we explored on foot with a guide and today went with others to Wang family courtyard which was really an expansive castle type home 800 years old. The village where it is has cave dwellings still occupied (China's Coober Pedy). We also visited a 1400 year old fortress that was underground tunnels, as well as the ancient Yuan Dynasty village that is still lived in. It was fascinating and the group we were with was great company. We have packed and now wait for the night train (our 1st experience greeting a sleeper). We leave at 0035 and will arrive at Xian (home of the Terracotta Warriors) 0930 tomorrow.

Jenny great to hear you are there and doing it. time for another form of transport perhaps :)
Robyn Clark Just as well it was your bum on the seat, Neville wouldn't have been able to stand it for that long in one place and you would have lost him for good. Rest sounds great tho, Love Robyn
Aaron Are you there yet?
