On Sat 12th as planned I crossed the border in to Bolivia- 6th country of the trip! I travelled with an Austrian couple, Marion and Daniel, who had also been waiting for the blockades to be over. I think it was about 4 hours to the border town then a short taxi ride to the border. You do both Argentinian and Bolivian immigration before walking across the bridge to Villazon, the Bolivian border town. As soon as I crossed the border and walked up the first road I knew I was in a different country again, more like Ecuador than Argentina- shops selling all sorts of stuff, different music playing, street sellers…We had lunch then got a transport to Tupiza, our first stop in Bolivia. We went out for dinner in the evening and then on Sunday I didn't do much- the town was very quiet. On the Monday though I went on a day tour of the local area as the areas surrounding Tupiza is known to be beautiful, a lot like the American Wild West. A lot of people see the local sights on horse but since I am not a fan of horse riding I opted for a jeep tour which I ended up doing with two other travellers, Tobias and Simon. It was a good day out and we visited all the highlights in the area which included canyons and valleys; beautiful scenery. We had perfect weather with clear blue skies in contrast to the bright colours of the mountains and places that we saw. In the evening we arranged to go out for dinner- my second time eating in this cool little restaurant with good value food and random stuff on the walls and a big TV showing cheesy 80s videos!
