It was cloudy and overcast when we got up today so we decided to make the trip to Ilha Grande. Ilha Grande is an island off the coast of Brazil that is only accessible by boat. Apparently it used to be a prison, not a bad place to be if you're a criminal! Things in Paraty seem to run on their own time, so an hour and half after our supposed departure time the van arrived to pick us up. Paraty is an old colonial style town on the water. The streets are all cobble stones (or actually boulders) and the buildings are white with colourful doors and windows...we fell in love. It helped that it was 30+ and sunny and we spent the day on a boat sailing around, stopping at beaches, swimming and having a couple drinks. After picking up my Brazilian Visa yesterday we went back to the Iguazu Falls National Park for a closer look at the falls. We took a boat tour that brought us so close to the falls we got drenched. It was good for a laugh and we bought the video which I'm sure is quite entertaining!
