Day 5, the final day of our challenge. Today we had to cover the last 90km of our route.
We left the hotel at 8am and went back out through town on the main road. The day was broken up into short sections of 9 or 10kms. When we started it was still relatively cool. The route took us on a lovely road through the countryside. For me the cycling today was the best day of the challenge. It was the longest distance, but the atmosphere amongst the ladies, combined with the scenery and terrain made it feel fantastic.
Having covered 50km during the morning we stopped for lunch in a magnificent town square, which gave ample opportunity for people watching as well as interrogating the ground crew about what exactly went on yesterday evening after the drinking and dancing.....
The afternoon was similar terrain, with a well timed stop at a roadside 'shop' after 20km. We were very grateful for the ice cold cans of lemonade and some took the opportunity to stock up on a bottle or two of Havana Club at the equivalent of £4 a bottle
