I hoping that this internet has a virus, when looking at the six nations results. England losing to wales, this cant be true. Tell me this is a virus of some kind or massive international hoax. No replies from welsh please. Including you Beth.

south of brisbane byron bay is cool and you should pass on your way to drop off camper.
as you go north from bris towards cairns you will reach hervey bay (for fraser island), noosa, and airlie beach (for the whitsundays) which are worth going to. surfers paradise is the aussie answer to Benidorm, and quite out of place. i wouldnt stay too long but worth seeing. get your sufing in now because jelly fish prevent going in the sea at certain times of year (now i think) higher up the coast. the other place i would recommend but we only got to see because we were on the oz bus, was dingo (a cattle station). i don't know whether you can buy the pass just for this section but it was a more stereotypical australia. check out http://www.ozexperience.com/oz/hopping/hopping_cobber5.htm
even if you don't travel by the bus, the website is good as it shows you some of the places along the coast and what there is to do in each place. as you'll soon realise, theres a well worn backpacker trail up the east coast, far more so than the south, just go with the flow and stay wherever takes your fancy.
p.s. dont expect any sympathy for a couple of days rain, your bad days are considerably better than our best ones.
Kate

Apparently joe, some guy from the UK has bought a few VW campers and now they have lost 30 years-worth of street cred and respect from the surfing fraternity. A guy said the demand just isnt there anymore!
