We had our island tour this morning the weather was over cast. We headed to Central Park which was very dirty and didn't feel safe for children or adults! There was a pond that had turtles in it, completely filled with algae!
After that we headed up the volcano mayana to a look out and saw conception and we walked up 1/2 way on Madeiras volcano. This was a nice strenuous walk in the tropical humidity, the last were leg breaking by the time you reached the top your legs were trembling!
We could see the weather changing from out view point, so we decided to head back down. Our poor knee took a caning, once back at the mini van it was lunch time.
I had a vegetable broth, which I could taste beef, I'm sure it was based on a beef stock but it was very tasty!
It was then to have Looks at the islands popular fresh water beach. we didn't have an opportunity to go for a swim. It was more like a 10 minute stroll on nice Beach, quick dip of the feet in the water and then we left!
Across form the beach we saw the Jewish cap monkeys which is apparently one of the smartest monkeys. The tour guide fed crackle to the monkey, that went I knew it was a clever little monkey! ;)
It was then off the the volcanic water fed spring, which were beautiful but not as warm as expected. The insects were really bad and lee pulled out the insect spray, and turned into a smurf, compliments if his swimmer bag!
I decided to do the nature walk and see some of the howler monkey, from you tube, I saw them but it was getting dark and they were as vocal as they are on you tube.
All this activity had made me hungry, thank goodness we were having a BBQ for dinner the food was delicious! Fish chicken beef salads corn!
Earlier that day a few of us had got moonshine which the lady shook her head and said no, but they got it anyway. 500mls cost $2, the main thing was that we had to make it taste good we turned it into a punch. ( none of us went blind either)
The night got a little fuzzy and messy and I think it was about 2 before I got to bed!
