I stayed at the Christchurch Millenium Hotel (5-star!). There were people outside to help with your bags, and collect / return your car to the underground car park. The price of the hotel was about the same as a Travel-Inn in the UK, so was actually very good value (it is right in the centre of Christchurch and is one of the best hotels)
