The BWCA has big fires this year. Almost got hit in the head with planes a couple of times. (Here's the sarcasm if you're getting rusty at recognizing it.) The biggest fires are by the Gunflint and Seagull Lake and another just south of Lake One on Gabbro and Turtle. We were out on Insula and saw smoke to the south. When we got back we found out it was directly south by only one lake on Tremolo. A plane landed on Alice while we were on Insula. We also had a storm with golf ball sized hail out on Insula. We hid under the canoe so we wouldn't get hit in the head. Quite an adventure, but fun! My Dad will do a trip report soon.

Hi Bethany, Mag and I are in Grand Rapids checking your site. Great new pictures. Mag says lake is fun, not the same without you. Don't forget to shop for us. Sounds like things are going great. We knew they would. We head up to WaGaThaKa tomorrow. It is supposed to be in the 90's every day. We'll be thinking about you when we are skiing and tubing and biking and canoeing and kayaking and playing games and............ You get the point. Truth be told, I'd rather be where you are! I'll let you know the real lake scoop when we get back.
