I'm getting lazy with the journal entries. Last weekend was my 2nd trip with my Outdoor Education Class. We went backpacking and camping for 4 days. It was an awesome time. The place we went to had so many really cool mountains and big granite boulders everywhere. We got to climb around in caves a lot. Some of the caves were really little- we had to slide through on our stomaches to squeeze through sideways. We went through this one pass to an open area that is an old sacred site where Aboriginal people used to meet. I got to swim in some really nice fresh creeks. The hardest day was one day when we hiked the whole day, got lost for a while, finally made it to our campsite, and then had to climb this huge mountain in order to get to the top before the sunset. It was tough but we made it and boy was it worth it! The sunset was absolutely amazing. We stayed up there, cooked supper, watched to stars come out and watched to full moon rise. Then we walked down in the moonlight back to the campsite. Another reason this trip was so great is becuase we were in small groups. I was only with 6 others, and they're all friends, so we had a blast together. We got lost a couple times becuase we were playing games instead of watching where we were walking. For the most part, the hikes were just alright. They were on 4WD tracks, but we got to take some off-track routes too, which was really cool. I loved climbing straight through the bush- and that's where we saw most of the kangaroos too.
Next week I head to Sydeny and New Zealand. I'll try to update once or twice, but otherwise I probably won't be updating until I get home in early November. It feels like my time here has gone by so fast. It will be really hard and sad to leave this great place.
