We were very sad to leave Punjab after all of the excitement that we had over the last 4 weeks... Including Neeshy's dodgy moped riding experience, he should really stick to cars!
We arrived in Guji land late on 28th Sept after a very long day on train and plane. From the airport we headed straight to Mount Abu - a hill station on the Rajasthan/Gujarat border... very scenic, and we managed to get a tour guide who sounded like he had swallowed a tape recorder! Plenty of Guji mosquitos who fancied a bit of Punjabi/English food unfortunately!
After a quick tour around Mount Abu we climbed Guru Shikhar to the Atri Rishi Temple (to ring the bell which could be heard for miles around), we then headed to Ambaji to the famous temple of Ambe Maa - more than a 500 step climb in the blistering heat to reach the temple, but it was definitely worth it. After that, we headed to the Ambaji main temple and to queue in crowds of thousands for more than one hour just to get a very quick glimpse inside the temple before we were pushed out by the crowds behind us and the police.
We then spent a couple of days with Rupal's family and visited the second city of Gujarat - Vadodara... lots of shops and restaurants.
We caught an early morning flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai today and are currently in an internet cafe at Mumbai airport waiting for our connecting flight to Kerala - Raj has unfortunately eaten a few too many chilly pakoras in Gujarat so we're having to take toilet breaks every few minutes - other than that though, everything is good!
We'll add some photos from Gujarat soon and next update from Kerala after we've hopefully had a few ayurvedic massage treatments....
