Hey all,
So i just got back from a weekend in Rimini, Italy. Its on the Adriatic coast and according to my guide book, it is the "Ibiza of the Adriatic". It was a great weekend....anytime i'm by the beach i'm a happy camper.
Let me backtrack a bit. Last week was my econ midterm, and Julia Iglesias and Huma stopped by on Tuesday as a pit stop on their Italian adventure. It was good to see familiar faces. Unfort there is some sort of cold bug going around school and i fell victim. So i am still recovering a week later....going out on the weekend prob didn't help.
Anyway, Saturday we did a city tour of Bologna and it was cool to hear about the history behind so many of the fountains, churches, alleys, etc. I walk past everyday. We saw this amazing home built way back in the Middle Ages that was amazingly intact. Crazy! Anyway, apparently the John Grisham book "The Broker" is set in Bologna, so it could be a fun read for for anyone planning to visit to read beforehand.
Okay back to Rimini. Sat afternoon, the roomies and i took the train over to Rimini and met some other students that had arrived earlier in the day for aperitivo happy hour at Mucho Macho. Delightful. Afterwards we checked into our hostel- little flashback to my S. America days....and headed to dinner and then out to this outdoor club called Coconut for a night of dancing and fun. It was great to be out of Bologna, and though Rimini is only a little over an hour away, its got such a Holiday Destination vibe, that you feel you are ages away from the city.
From Coconut we ended up walking far, too far to this bar/club on the edge of a long pier. Anyway somewhere around 5 we started to head home, hungry, feet aching, and cold, and stumbled upon a food van and a charter bus of Italian men hanging outside it. So of course we went and had sandwhiches made of mystery meat (i don't want to talk about it- it was gross) but one of those decisions that seemed like a good idea at 5 in the morning.....
Stumbled home, woke up the next day and hit the beach for sum R&R. Headed back sunday and I'm trying to be good and not go out so i can feel healthy once again.
Anyway ciao tutti and until later!
